We may use lasers to assist in a variety of different treatments, including filling cavities and root canal therapy.

Radiation-Free

Though the WaterLase machine sounds like “water laser,” it does not use radiation. Instead, the machine shoots an ionized beam of light into a tank of water. Once the water is ionized, the machine creates a “water scalpel” for the most precise cut.

The WaterLase can cut through soft or hard tissue in the mouth. It’s so much more precise than traditional dental drills, it’s our #1 choice for multiple different types of treatment. WaterLase works by focusing an ultrafine laser and combining water and air to the laser stream. The laser excites water molecules within the tooth to precisely and effectively cut tissue. Our pediatric dentist uses this laser to remove or drill into tooth tissue. By its nature, WaterLase is very comfortable, allowing for little to no anesthesia to be used in most cases. Regular drills require local anesthesia because they remove larger portions of tooth.

WaterLase, however, is more precise and can work in far smaller areas. In addition, the WaterLase does not actually come into contact with your mouth, eliminating the risk for cross-contamination.
